I am a 34 year old mother of 2 beautiful identical twin boys, Joshua and Sam. I have been married to my husband Simon for 8 years. My life now is wonderful and complete but this was not the case for many years. Simon and I made the decision to have children about 8 years ago but after a long period of trying to get pregnant we were not having any luck. After some time we decided to head down the IVF path but that proved fruitless as well; our dream of having our own family was drifting away.
On reflection I have suffered symptoms of Gluten Intolerance since my teens but like many of us I did not understand why I was feeling this way and thought it was just normal. Through my late 20’s I started removing a lot of Gluten from my diet, which made a difference but still did not seem to fix the problems I was having. After many visits to various doctors, including testing for Coeliac Disease which came back negative still no one was able to pin point what my problems were.
I remember still so vividly sitting in my local GP's room, crying my eyes out telling her something is not right with my body, I was having a lot of problems with my stomach and my poo's :). Eventually my GP sent me to see a specialist (who I affectionately call my Poo Doctor) who saved my life. He suggested that my first test for Coeliac Disease may have been a false negative test and decided to do another test. This time I had to go back on all gluten foods for 2 weeks before the test could be done accurately. Although this was a very difficult time it resulted in me finally being diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2008.
After adjusting to a Non Contaminated Gluten Free Diet it was not long before I conceived my identical twins naturally and my little fella's Josh and Sam where born in January 2009. Since being diagnosed, I have done a lot of research into the Coeliac Disease and Gluten Intolerance. I have developed a passion for Gluten Free cooking as my husband loves his food and is happy to be my test subject for new and exciting recipes.
I have developed this website to draw together all the different facets about living Gluten Free. My aim is to provide accurate and meaningful information about how to not only eat Gluten Free but also to how to understand what it means to live a Gluten Free lifestyle.
